Fascinating Lecture at Blackrock Castle Observatory
A group of 4th Year Chemistry and Physics students visited Blackrock Castle Observatory as part of an event organised by MTU for Science Week.
The students were initially given a brief tour and history of the castle. This was followed by fascinating talks from scientists working in the Centre for Advanced Phototronics and Process Analysis (CAPPA) on the work being done to devise ways of measuring the levels of pollutant gases in the atmosphere. The morning was neatly rounded off with a very interesting talk from one of the Observatory’s astronomers about the stars and planets that can be viewed in our night sky.
