Great Comeback in Local U-19 School Derby
Thursday the 28th of November 2024 will live long in the memory of anyone associated with DCS soccer. Going into a crucial match versus local rivals Rochestown College we were without our centre half pairing of Lucas Curtin and Vlad Lysenko but this did not deter our boys from producing one of the greatest comeback wins anyone involved with DCS soccer has ever witnessed.
3 nil down after 30 minutes against a star studded Rochestown eleven our lads dug in and managed to pull one back before half time with the superb Ciaran O’Súilleabhain slotting past the keeper. A rousing team talk from coaches Mr Fahy and Mr Ronayne at half time seemed to fuel our determination even further and Kealan Crowe added a second goal quickly after the restart.
The comeback was well and truly on but Rochestown held firm until captain Dylan O’Sullivan scored from 30 yards into the top corner to send the game into extra time. There was only one winner from there on and our lads completed a superb comeback when Olan Taaffe calmly slotted home the winner: 4-3. Douglas held firm for the rest of extra time with an exceptional team performance. Well done to all involved.
