Concert for Positive Mental Health Week 🎶🎷

Compèred by Neil Bronks, DCS hosted its first Concert for Positive Mental Health to a large group of students this morning.

The concert brought poetry, song and music together making for a very enjoyable event. Music can be a critical instrument in understanding ourselves and others. Sad music can help us break away from our own distress and remind us again of the beauty of the world around us. Happy music can put a spring in our step. Today we enjoyed music in all its forms.

Our choir opened the concert with a joyful rendition of “Viva La Vida” and the tempo continued apace with a piece from our musicians, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”.

The poetry for the concert focused on mental health with the positive message from the poem, “Everyone’s Different”, read by Jude McCarthy. The struggles of the human mind then were encapsulated by the poem, “The Owl and the Chimpanzee” read by William Chambers.

Thanks to Ms. Millard, Ms. Clifford, Mr Bronks and Ms Barry Murphy for putting together such a memorable concert.
